Introduction
Do you want to pursue research? Have you ever wanted a taste of what research could be like at Australia's top-ranked Engineering school, working alongside our world-class academics? The Summer Research Experience introduces current undergraduate and Master of Engineering students to research through a summer project listed by our academics. Students will have the opportunity to state their preferences and hopefully be offered a place in this program.
The Melbourne School of Engineering and National ICT Australia (NICTA) will sponsor successful applicants with a studentship of $400 per week (pre-tax) to allow them to work with our researchers for 8-10 weeks.
This is your chance to experience research at a world-class institute. The Melbourne School of Engineering is currently ranked number one in Australia for engineering and technology across three major rankings systems (Times Higher Education, QS and Shanghai Jaio Tong). You will be part of a community of over 300 graduate research students and almost 200 research staff working across four innovative key themes:
- Biomedical Engineering
- Information and Communication Systems
- Structured Matter
- Sustainable Systems & Energy
The Summer Research Experience is open to all current undergraduate engineering students currently in their 2nd or 3rd year of an engineering degree (this includes students undertaking an engineering systems major through a University of Melbourne pathway degree) and all students in the 1st year of the professional Master of Engineering course.
Students must also be either an Australian citizen or Australian Permanent resident, New Zealand citizen or an international student that is currently studying at an Australian institution and has the right to stay in Australia during the summer months.
Selection
Selection to the program will be based on:
